Doha, January 29 (QNA) - The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MECC), represented by the Wildlife Development Department, Thursday launched the Rawda Fencing Project at Rawdat Selaimi Al Bambara, located north of the Al-Atouriya area.

The launch was attended by a lineup of ministry officials, representatives of the partner bank, and other relevant stakeholders.

The Ministry explained that the project, implemented in cooperation with Masraf Al Rayan, aims to enhance environmental awareness, preserve natural rawdas (grassland depressions), and promote responsible use of natural areas. The initiative aligns with the State of Qatar's vision of achieving environmental sustainability and protecting natural resources.

Commenting on the project, Head of the Wild Plant Life Section at MECC, Adel Mohammed Al Yafie stated that it represents one of the key environmental tools adopted by the Ministry to protect the natural habitats of wild plants and to curb encroachments that negatively impact the sustainability of vegetation cover and biodiversity in the country. He noted that fencing rawdas provides a safe environment for wild plants to grow and reproduce naturally, contributing to the restoration of ecological balance, particularly in areas that have experienced environmental pressures in recent years.

Al Yafie emphasized that the Ministry follows a scientific and well-planned approach that takes into consideration the environmental characteristics of each site. He added that the Rawda Fencing Project forms part of a comprehensive national plan aimed at conserving and protecting Qatar's terrestrial natural resources.

He further noted that cooperation with Masraf Al Rayan reflects the pivotal role of the private sector in supporting environmental initiatives and contributing to sustainable development through projects with positive environmental and social impact.

For his part, Assistant General Manager for Business Relations at Masraf Al Rayan, Nawaf Faisal Talfat affirmed the bank's belief that sustainability is not a temporary concept, but rather a long-term approach embedded within its institutional vision, with tangible impacts on quality of life as well as economic and social development.

Talfat explained that the Rawda Fencing Project is part of the bank's ongoing partnership with the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, aimed at protecting rawdas and preserving the local environment. He added that the project contributes to raising environmental awareness among various segments of society and reflects a practical commitment to promoting a culture of environmental responsibility, within the broader framework of state efforts to achieve the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030.

The launch of the project comes as part of a series of programs and initiatives designed to engage different segments of society in environmental protection efforts and to strengthen the culture of social responsibility. It also highlights Masraf Al Rayan's active role as a key partner in supporting national initiatives with a strong environmental focus. (QNA)
