QSE Launches Engineer Clinic Initiative to Help Citizens Navigate Construction Challenges
Doha, January 28 (QNA) - Qatar Society of Engineers (QSE) has launched an incredible initiative named Engineer Clinic within its Engineers Without Borders Program, with the objective of harnessing the energies of an elite group of volunteer engineers in this program to serve civil society and proffer radical solutions for intractable engineering challenges.
Eng. Khalid AbdulRahim Al Sayed, Board Member of the Qatar Society of Engineers and Director of the Engineers Without Borders program, said the new initiative is primarily an engineering action to lend a helping hand to many Qatari families and those about to construct, as part of the leading volunteering initiatives within this program.
He highlighted that the program comprises a fleet of engineering talents in all disciplines, those who have put their expertise to magnanimously serve society.
These engineering clinics are not merely consultative offices, but rather a platform to help resolve feuds and disputes with contractors by providing citizens with the essential technical support when they encounter problems and delays with contracting companies, Al Sayed clarified.
Al Sayed further noted that these clinics strive to lay out creative and swift engineering solutions as cost-effectively as possible to mitigate the burden in terms of money on families and charitable organizations, as well as conducting field oversight to monitor engineering designs and construction sites to proactively ensure engineering quality and flawless technical designs prior to potential errors.
The Engineers Without Borders Program has fundamentally existed to remain the bridge that connects engineering science with the simple and complex needs of people alike, Al Sayed underlined. He explained that the program is fully ready to contribute and volunteer, give back to this nation, and hoist the value of volunteerism to have concrete welfare for citizens in terms of costs, designs, and constructions.
He suggested that the new initiative reflects the program's commitment to social responsibility, as well as professionally, transparently, and sustainably advancing work to move full steam ahead on the domestic stage, after it had been launched alongside its official website last December.
The program, Al Sayed noted, intends to deepen the culture of corporate volunteerism, foster sustainable development, and leverage national engineering expertise in support of projects with humanitarian, development, and social dimensions at home and abroad.
Eng. Al Sayed asserted that the program includes two tracks. The first track allows volunteer engineers the flexibility to choose the volunteering schedule that suits them, while the second track consists of recorded programs from which volunteer engineers can select the initiatives they wish to participate in.
Since its inception, the program has received an exceptional response, with a large number of Qatari and resident engineers from diverse specializations registering to volunteer, he continued.
Al Sayed elaborated that, by dint of accelerating the pace of work and turning plans into tangible outcomes, a series of meetings will be held with local partners, including ministries, government agencies, banks, and charitable organizations, to ensure alignment with the nation's strategic priorities and to provide the operational and logistical support needed for the program to achieve its ultimate goal of serving the community.
This is alongside contributing to the nation's prosperity, while ensuring sustainable urban development based on the latest global engineering standards. (QNA)
