Doha, January 24 (QNA) - The Souq Waqif Equestrian Festival 2026 continued in full swing Saturday, attracting record participation from owners and breeders of Arab purebred horses. The event is set to run until Jan. 27.
Today's competitions witnessed the crowning of champions across multiple categories, reflecting tremendous skill and preparation.
In the small-yearling filly divisions, top positions were fiercely contested, showcasing exceptional quality and elegance among the participants.
The small-yearling colt competitions displayed extraordinary strength and agility, with leading contenders earning remarkable recognition. Preliminary rounds for several filly categories emphasized precision, symmetry, and elite standards, contributing to outstanding performances.
Championship rounds in additional filly divisions highlighted intense rivalry and flawless preparation, thrilling all spectators. Colt finals demonstrated peak readiness, exceptional training, and supreme coordination, underlining the festival's prestigious platform.
Overall, the day celebrated elite equestrian craftsmanship, dedication, and the enduring heritage of this epic tradition.
Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA), the tournament director, Mohammed Abdul Rahman Al Mansouri, highlighted that the championship has witnessed broader global participation for the Arabian horses, alongside a terrific Qatari presence, thereby reflecting the growing standing of this tournament both on domestic and international stages.
Al Mansouri elaborated that the world annually witnesses this festival at Souq Waqif as one of the foremost specialized platforms showcasing the Purebred Arabian Horse Beauty Championships. He clarified that the tournament is characterized by a record public turnout, which is inherently connected with the heritage site of Souq Waqif.
He pointed out that the tournament has been a product of phenomenal organization, as well as spectacular and strong competitions that have largely contributed to creating an honored image of this epic global festival. (QNA)
