Cairo, January 25 (QNA) - The Arab Media Excellence Award committee has met in Cairo to discuss ways to develop its performance and strengthen its institutional framework.
The meeting, held at the headquarters of the Arab League, was the first of the committee's 10th session.
Arab League Assistant Secretary-General for Media and Communication, Ambassador Ahmed Rashid Khattabi, said it provided an opportunity to exchange views on proposals to enhance transparency, credibility and quality, including the possible establishment of a board of trustees under the supervision of the Arab League and Kuwait, the award's sponsor.
The meeting comes in implementation of a decision by the 55th Council of Arab Information Ministers, aimed at promoting media quality, professional excellence and innovation across the sector.
The award covers print, television, radio and digital media, with regulations requiring respect for media ethics, social values and non-interference in the internal affairs of member states.
Organizers said digital transformation and the impact of artificial intelligence were among the key themes under consideration, given their growing influence on journalism and media content production. (QNA)
