Syria Reports Commencement of Oil, Gas Extraction from Fields in Northeastern Regions
Damascus, January 24 (QNA) - The Syrian authorities have announced the commencement of operations to extract and transport oil and gas from the fields in northeastern Syria to the Homs and Baniyas refineries, as part of a comprehensive plan to reinstate these fields into operation and gradually raise production.
The Syrian Petroleum Company reported that a substantial level of oil production is anticipated within 3 to 4 months, potentially reaching 100,000 barrels per day, which would reflect as support to the energy system and the national economy.
The Company began pumping raw gas from the Jibsa fields in Hasakah Governorate to the Al-Farqlus gas plant in rural Homs at a pressure of 35 bars and a rate of 1.2 million cubic meters per day via the Kouna and Markada stations, to secure the gas allocated for electricity generation and to reinforce the stability of the power network.
