Madrid, January 12 (QNA) - Real Madrid announced, "By mutual agreement between the club and Xabi Alonso, it has been decided to bring his time as first team coach to an end."

This came in an official statement published on its website and social media accounts.

Meanwhile, the club made a related statement announcing that former club and Spain national team player, Alvaro Arbeloa, will succeed Alonso as first team coach.

This development comes only one day after the team lost the Spanish Super Cup to FC Barcelona by three goals to two, which was held in Saudi Arabia, Sunday. (QNA)
