Intensive Preparations Underway for QTerminals Qatar Classic Squash Championship 2025
Doha, September 08 (QNA) - Final preparations are underway at Qatar Squash Federation for the upcoming QTerminals Qatar Classic Squash Championship 2025, scheduled to take place from September 28 to October 4 at Khalifa International Complex, with participation of 64 of the world's top-ranked male and female players.
The tournament marks the first Platinum event of the Professional Squash Association (PSA) World Tour for the 2025–2026 season.
Leading the star-studded lineup are World No. 1 Mostafa Asal of Egypt and his compatriot, Women's World No. 1 Nouran Gohar, underscoring the tournament's strength and prestige on global squash calendar.
The men's draw will also see the return of Peru's Diego Elias, World No. 2 and winner of the 2024 edition, alongside New Zealand's Paul Coll (World No. 3), Wales' Joel Makin (World No. 4), and England's Marwan and Mohamed ElShorbagy.
For Qatar, World No. 22 Abdulla Al Tamimi will spearhead the national squad, joined by Salem Al Malki and Ali Al Darwish, both competing with wildcard entries.
In the women's competition, Egypt's Nour El Sherbini, World No. 2 and reigning 2024 champion, will headline the field along with compatriot Hania El Hammamy (World No. 3) and England's Georgina Kennedy (World No. 4).
The tournament offers a prize pool of $231,500 each for men and women, reinforcing its status as one of the most prestigious Platinum events.
Secretary-General of the Qatar Tennis, Squash, Padel, and Badminton Federation and Tournament Director, Tariq Zainal, said they are delighted to welcome all participating players to Doha, and the federation is finalizing all organizational and technical preparations to deliver a world-class edition worthy of the event's legacy.
Zainal added that hosting this elite group of world-class players reflects international sporting confidence in Qatar's capabilities and its readiness to stage major events to the highest global standards.
He also expressed gratitude to QTerminals, the title sponsor, and other partners whose support has been instrumental in strengthening the tournament's standing on the global squash stage.
