Monaco, September 02 (QNA) - The World Athletics Federation announced Tuesday that Jamaican sprint star Shericka Jackson will compete in the 25th edition of the World Athletics Championships, set to take place in Tokyo from September 13 to 21.

According to an official statement on the federation’s website, Jackson, who holds multiple global and Olympic medals, will race in the 100m, 200m, and 4x100m relay events, aiming to defend her 200m title won at the 2023 edition in Hungary.

Her presence alongside fellow Jamaican legend Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, a ten-time world gold medalist, is expected to intensify competition in the sprint events.

The federation also highlighted the ongoing rivalry between Jamaican and American women sprinters, noting that this clash could lead to new records and break long-standing benchmarks.

The Tokyo 2025 Championships will feature over 2,000 athletes from 200 countries, competing for more than 100 medals. (QNA)
