Qatar Defeats Fiji in Final Match of FIBA 3x3 World Cup Campaign

Beijing, September 20 (QNA) - The Qatari national basketball team defeated Fiji 17-15 on Saturday in their final match at the FIBA 3x3 U23 World Cup, which took place over three days in Xiongan, China, with 20 teams participating.

The Qatar team, consisting of Mohammed Bashir, Mahmoud Darwish, Mubarak Jama, and Mustafa Ndaw, won the match in the fourth and final round of Group D.

Qatar showcased impressive individual and team play throughout the game, with Mohammed Bashir leading the team with 8 crucial points. Mustafa Ndow contributed 5 points, while Mahmoud Darwish and Mubarak Jama each added 2 points. The match ended with a narrow 2-point margin.

Earlier today, Qatar had lost to a strong Latvian team 11-21 in their third group-stage match, effectively ending their hopes of advancing to the quarterfinals. Qatar had also lost to the United States 15-21 in their first match and China 18-21 in their second.

From the group stage, the following teams advanced to the quarterfinals: Croatia and Lithuania from Group 1; Czech Republic and Serbia from Group 2; Argentina and Italy from Group 3; and Latvia and China from Group 4.

In the quarterfinals, Croatia will face Italy, while Latvia will take on Serbia, with the winners meeting in the semifinals. On the other side, China will play the Czech Republic, and Lithuania will face Argentina for the remaining semifinal spots.

The World Cup featured 20 teams, divided into four groups. Group 1 included Germany, Lithuania, Poland, Croatia, and Iran. Group 2 consisted of France, New Zealand, the Czech Republic, Serbia, and Egypt. Group 3 included Mongolia, Italy, Algeria, Argentina, and Venezuela. Group 4 comprised Qatar, the United States, China, Latvia, and Fiji. (QNA)
