Madrid, September 13 (QNA) - Real Madrid secured a 2-1 win over host team Real Sociedad on Saturday at the Anoeta Stadium in the fourth round of the Spanish La Liga.

French forward Kylian Mbappé and Turkish midfielder Arda Guler scored the two goals for Real Madrid in the 12th and 44th minutes, respectively. Mikel Oyarzabal netted the only goal for Sociedad in the 56th minute.

With this victory, Real Madrid increased their points tally to 12, extending their lead at the top of the standings to five points over archrivals Barcelona, the defending champions, who will face Valencia on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Real Sociedad remains in 17th place with just 2 points from 2 draws and 2 losses.

Real Madrid played with 10 men from the 32nd minute after defender Dean Haussen was sent off with a red card.

In another match this round, Getafe defeated Real Oviedo 2-0.

The round will continue on Sunday with four more matches, including Celta Vigo vs. Girona, Levante vs. Real Betis, Osasuna vs. Rayo Vallecano, and Barcelona vs. Valencia. The round will conclude on Monday with Espanyol hosting Real Mallorca. (QNA)
