Doha, September 01 (QNA) - The Qatar Shooting and Archery Federation (QSFA) announced its upcoming championships agenda and participation, emphasizing its continued ambition and achievement at the Asian and international levels.

QSFA Secretary-General Jassim Shaheen Al Sulaiti noted Qatari shooters' outstanding performance at the 16th Asian Championship in Shymkent, Kazakhstan, winning seven medals (two silver and five bronze). He expressed his pride in this achievement, which is the result of the strategic efforts and support of the wise leadership and the Qatar Olympic Committee.

Al Sulaiti also revealed the upcoming championship agenda that the national team will focus on, namely the ISSF World Championship Shotgun in Greece this October, and the ISSF World Cup Final, which Doha will host this December, with the participation of the world's elite shooters.

He pointed out that preparations for these tournaments began early, with the hiring of international coaches and the holding of intensive training camps.

A new system was also adopted to select the best shooters to ensure diversity and improve performance, he said, adding that the development of the teams is proceeding in parallel with that of the first team.

Al Sulaiti also noted that the QSFA has brought in psychological experts as well as fitness and performance coaches to ensure the gradual completion of the current season and preparation for the next one, while developing a clear plan to compete in most upcoming world championships, qualify for the Olympics, and prepare for the Doha 2030 Asian Games.

He emphasized that Qatar's hosting of the ISSF World Cup Final this December is part of the country's track record of organizing major tournaments.

It will also host the Asian Shotgun Cup next January, in addition to major annual local tournaments such as the Amir's championship, the Nishan Championship, and the Meqdam Championship.

Doha is also preparing to host the Asian shooting championship in 2026, followed by the World shooting championship in 2027, with the participation of between 1,000 and 2,000 shooters.

Al Sulaiti concluded by saying that the Asian achievement represents a new starting point for Qatari shooting toward broader international horizons, and that the QSFA is working on strategic plans for more accomplishments and to promote Qatar's profile in sporting forums. (QNA)
