Qatar Falls to Lebanon in Asia Cup 2025 Opener Despite Strong Start
Jeddah, August 06 (QNA) - The Qatari national basketball team began its campaign in the FIBA Asia Cup 2025 with a narrow defeat to Lebanon, losing 80–84 in their opening Group A match held this evening in Saudi Arabia.
Despite a balanced start and an early lead by Qatar, Lebanon managed to overturn the score in the third quarter, capitalizing on their offensive momentum to secure a four-point victory.
Qatar’s standout performer was Brandon Goodwin, who scored an impressive 33 points. On the Lebanese side, Ali Mansour and Dedric Lawson each contributed 12 points, helping their team clinch the win.
Qatar will face Australia in its second group-stage match on Friday, followed by a final group clash against South Korea on August 10. (QNA)
