Qatari National Basketball Team to Face Lebanese Team Wednesday in 31st edition of 2025 FIBA Asia Cup
Riyadh, August 5 (QNA) - The Qatari national basketball team will face the Lebanese team tomorrow, Wednesday, in the opening match of the 31st edition of the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup, hosted by Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, from Aug. 5 to 17, with the participation of 16 teams.
The Qatari team seek to achieve outstanding results and be the best representative of Qatari sports in this major sporting event, which includes the best teams on the continent.
The draw for the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup placed the Qatari team in Group A alongside Australia, South Korea, and Lebanon. Group B includes Guam, Japan, Syria, and Iran. Group C includes China, Jordan, India, and Saudi Arabia. Group D includes Chinese Taipei, New Zealand, Iraq, and the Philippines.
The tournament kicked off Tuesday, with the Iraqi national team losing to New Zealand 100-78 in the opening match. Meanwhile, Jordan defeated India 91-84.
Host Saudi Arabia will next face China, while Chinese Taipei will play the Philippines later Tuesday.
The FIBA Asia Cup is held every four years, and Saudi Arabia is hosting it for the second time, having hosted the 1997 edition in Riyadh. (QNA)
