Deaths and Injuries in Train Derailment in Northwest Egypt
Cairo, August 30 (QNA) - Egypt's Ministry of Health announced that three people were killed and 54 others injured in a passenger train derailment in Matrouh Governorate, northwest of the country.
In a statement, the ministry said 30 ambulances were dispatched to the scene to provide first aid to the injured and transfer the bodies of the deceased.
For its part, Egypt's Ministry of Transport said in a statement that seven carriages derailed from a train traveling from Matrouh to Cairo, causing two of them to overturn. It added that a technical committee has been formed to investigate the cause of the accident.
In February 2019, Egypt witnessed a deadly train crash when a locomotive rammed into a barrier at Cairo's Ramses Station, sparking a massive explosion that killed 25 people. (QNA)
