5.6-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Fiji Islands
Suva, August 26 (QNA) - An earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale struck on Tuesday Fiji islands in the south Pacific Ocean.
The US Geological Survey (USGS) said that the quake occurred east of the Fiji islands, at a depth of 589.1 km.
There have been no reports of casualties or material damage due to the earthquake so far.
Fiji experiences frequent seismic activity as it lies within the Pacific Ring of Fire, a major area of tectonic activity. (QNA)
