Years of Culture Unveils Fall 2025 Line-Up Showcasing Argentina, Chile in Qatar
Doha, August 14 (QNA) - The Years of Culture initiative announced an exciting programme that will immerse audiences in the rich traditions and contemporary creativity of Argentina and Chile.
The season, which spans from September to December 2025, promises a dynamic blend of art, literature, design, film, music, hospitality, trade, and culinary experiences, with the aim of encouraging dialogue, creative exchange, and lasting connections across cultures.
In a statement, Years of Culture described the initiative as "a celebration of stories, ideas, and traditions that bring people closer together," adding that the season will offer "spaces where artists, families, and communities can connect, learn, and celebrate what makes each culture unique."
The programme begins in September with the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra’s "Sounds of Qatar and Argentina" at the Qatar National Convention Centre, a cross-cultural concert led by Argentine maestro Enrique Diemecke.
The evening will feature Astor Piazzolla’s famed Concerto for Bandoneon "Aconcagua", performed by soloist Victor Hugo Villena, alongside works by celebrated Argentine composers Esteban Benzecry and Alberto Ginastera.
Qatari compositions by Dana Alfardan and Nasser Sahim will add a distinctive local touch, blending cinematic elements with the spirit of Arabic music.
The Philharmonic will also perform "Vuelvo al sur" at Qatar National Library later in the month, a musical journey through Argentina and Chile that explores tango, folk, nueva cancion, and Andean rhythms, while the Library’s "Make with Me: Argentina Edition" will invite children and families to explore Argentine culture through hands-on crafts.
In October, Qatar Reads will launch its Argentina-focused theme for the year, featuring the book "Maryam in Argentina" and a Q&A with Argentina’s Ambassador to Qatar. Throughout the month, the Family Reading Program will deliver specially curated Argentina-themed book packages to more than 1,500 children across the country, fostering curiosity and cultural understanding through storytelling.
Public art will also take centre stage as Chilean muralist Daniel Marceli and Argentine artist Pablo Harymbat transform the tunnels of the Qatar Olympic Cycling Track into an outdoor gallery celebrating indigenous cultures and Latin American visual narratives.
Qatar National Library will host the Chile edition of "Make with Me", while the Ministry of Commerce and Industry teams up with Years of Culture for a cultural and business showcase at Hospitality Qatar 2025.
The month will close with "Cordillera Sonora – Sound of the Mountains", a Philharmonic concert blending traditional Andean music with classical arrangements, and a Chilean storytelling session inspired by the oral traditions of Rapa Nui.
November’s programme will open with a Qatar Reads cultural celebration at the National Museum of Qatar, offering activities inspired by Argentine heritage.
Culinary experiences will also shine, with Sabor Argentino and Sabor Chileno events presenting authentic dishes from both countries. Qatar National Library will host "Take and Make: Argentina Edition", where participants can craft miniature guitars inspired by Argentine musical heritage, followed by Argentina Storytime, a workshop inspired by the works of María Elena Walsh.
The Chile edition of Take and Make will explore Chilean symbolism, while Flavor of Chile: Culture on a Plate will feature acclaimed chef Francisco Araya introducing guests to the country’s gastronomic traditions.
The Doha Film Festival will spotlight emerging filmmakers from both countries in its "Made in Argentina/Chile" showcase, complemented by a retail pop-up at M7 featuring designs from Argentina and Chile, and a creative project takeover at M7’s Makers Space.
Later in the month, Chilean innovators will take the stage at the World Innovation Summit for Education, presenting groundbreaking educational approaches from across Latin America.
December will see the launch of World Wide Walls Doha, bringing Chilean street artist Posh del Futuro and Argentine muralist Animalitoland to Doha’s Al Aziziyah neighbourhood to create striking new murals. Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art will celebrate its anniversary with Autorretrato, a clay sculpture by Argentine artist Gabriel Chaile, drawing inspiration from the forms and materials of Indigenous communities in northeast Argentina. The Doha Film Institute will host Cinema Under the Stars, screening family-friendly films from both countries, while Generation Amazing Foundation will partner with Chile’s Club Deportivo Palestino for a Football for Development programme, featuring friendly matches, cultural exchanges, and the screening of the Chasing Dreams docuseries.
With a rich blend of performances, workshops, exhibitions, culinary events, and public art, the Fall 2025 programme of Years of Culture underscores the State of Qatar’s commitment to fostering meaningful cross-cultural dialogue. By opening doors to collaboration and creative expression, the initiative continues to strengthen ties between Qatar and its partner nations, this year shining a spotlight on the vibrant cultural worlds of Argentina and Chile.
