Gaza, August 10 (QNA) - Al Jazeera correspondents Anas Al-Sharif and Mohammed Qreiqa were killed late tonight in Gaza City following an Israeli airstrike that targeted a journalists' tent outside the emergency and reception unit at Al-Shifa Hospital.

Medical sources told Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the strike resulted in the deaths of Al-Sharif and Qreiqa, injuries to several other journalists who were present in the tent and surrounding area, and partial destruction of the emergency department building.

With the killing of Al-Sharif and Qreiqa, the number of Palestinian journalists killed since the start of the Israeli assault on Gaza on October 7, 2023, has risen to 323, in addition to dozens more injured.

The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate condemned what it described as the Israeli occupation's bloody crime of assassinating the two journalists.

The ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza has, to date, resulted in 61,430 people killed and 153,213 injured since it began in October 2023.

Throughout its campaign, Israeli forces have deliberately targeted journalists and media institutions in Gaza. Nearly 400 journalists have been injured, 40 detained, and the majority of local and international media offices have been destroyed. In addition, all local radio stations have been forced off air due to mass displacement, lack of electricity and internet, and the collapse of basic infrastructure necessary for journalistic work.
