Geneva, July 22 (QNA) - The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) on Tuesday said that its staff and caregivers in Gaza are hungry and exhausted.

In a statement, UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini said: "No one is spared: caretakers in Gaza are also in need of care. Doctors, nurses, journalists and humanitarians are hungry. Many are now fainting due to hunger and exhaustion while performing their duties: reporting atrocities or alleviating some of the suffering."

"The so called 'GHF' distribution schemes is a sadistic death trap. Snipers open fire randomly on crowds as if they are given a license to kill," said Lazzarini, criticizing the US-supported Gaza Humanitarian Foundation's aid distribution scheme in place since May, after Israel had partially lifted an 11-week-long blockade on the Strip.

The UNRWA Commissioner-General asserted: "More than 1,000 starving people reported killed since end of May," calling for an end to this abomination. (QNA)
