Doha, June 28 (QNA) - Al Sadd SC officially announced Saturday, the signing of Uruguayan player Agustin Soria from Defensor Sporting on a long-term contract that runs until 2030.

According to a statement on the club's official website, the 20-year-old midfielder joins as part of Al Sadd's efforts to strengthen the squad ahead of the upcoming season. The club highlighted Soria's technical abilities, noting his primary role in midfield and his versatility in also playing as a right back, making him a valuable addition to the team.

Soria's signing is part of a broader strategy to maintain technical stability within the squad. Al Sadd has recently renewed the contracts of several key players, including captain Hassan Al Haydos, Akram Afif, Brazilian Guilherme Torres, Pedro Miguel, and Ahmed Suhail.

As part of its preseason preparations, the team will hold a training camp in Spain from July 16 to August 4 in preparation for both domestic and continental competitions in the 2025-2026 season.

Al Sadd claimed the Qatar Stars League title in the recently concluded 2024-2025 season, finishing top of the table with 52 points, two points clear of runners-up Al Duhail. The club also reached the quarterfinals of the AFC Champions League Elite, before being eliminated by Japan's Kawasaki Frontale in a narrow 3-2 defeat. (QNA)
