Doha, May 31 (QNA) - Preparations are in full swing for the second edition of Mafareed Summer Camel Racing Festival 2025, set to kick off on June 14 at Al Shehaniya racetrack, with wide participation from Qatari and Gulf camel racing circuits.

The organizing committee is intensifying efforts to ensure a standout event that builds on last season’s success and meets the expectations of participants and spectators alike.

The festival will feature six preliminary races with varying distances. The first three rounds will cover 1,500 meters, while the last three, including the final race, will span 2,000 meters. Winners from the preliminary heats will qualify for the championship round.

The first preliminary race is scheduled for June 14, comprising 20 heats over 1,500 meters. The second and third rounds will take place on June 28 and July 12, respectively, with identical race formats.

The fourth race is set for July 26, followed by the fifth on August 9 and the sixth on August 23. These final three preliminary rounds will shift to a 2,000-meter distance, each featuring 20 heats.

The organizing committee confirmed that the date of the final race will be announced later, with plans to introduce new heats dedicated to the "Qatar DNA Production" category, allowing camel registrations until August 20.

Electricity and stimulant testing will be conducted after each heat for the top five finishers.

The prize structure is set to be QAR7,000 for first place, second place with QAR5,000, third place with QAR4,000, fourth place with QAR3,000, and fifth place QAR2,000. (QNA)
