Doha, April 14 (QNA) - The Qatar Basketball Federation (QBF) adopted Tuesday its new statutes during a supplementary session of its Extraordinary General Assembly meeting for the 2025-2026 sports season.

The meeting was attended by the Federation's president and board members, representatives of member clubs, and a representative of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC).

The new statutes represent a pivotal step in the development and enhancement of the Federation's institutional operations.

They were designed to keep pace with the latest international developments and align with global best practices, within the framework of a comprehensive strategic vision for the period 2025-2030.

The statutes are based on four main pillars that form the core of this qualitative transformation. These pillars include keeping abreast of international developments and global sporting requirements, ensuring the Federation's compliance with the latest adopted regulations, as well as legal and technical restructuring and the streamlining of procedures to enhance clarity of roles and improve the efficiency of operational processes.

The system also features comprehensive governance of the responsibilities of the main bodies within the federation, ensuring integration and harmony in institutional performance, as well as promoting the principles of integrity, transparency, and sustainability. This reflects the federation's commitment to implementing best practices in sports management.

Mohammed Saad Al Mughaisib, President of the Qatar Basketball Federation (QBF), said that the adoption of the statutes is not merely a legislative update, but a strategic step towards building a comprehensive institutional sports model capable of meeting future challenges and enhancing Qatar's position on the regional and international basketball map.

He called upon all member clubs and organizations to commit to its implementation and to work towards translating its provisions into practical practices that contribute to developing the game and raising the level of competitiveness.

Al Mughaisib explained that this step was taken in full coordination with the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) and in close cooperation with the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC).

This unprecedented move reflects the level of integration between local and international sports institutions and aims to build an integrated system based on the core values of good governance, including integrity, compliance, and transparency.

It also seeks to solidify the principles of sportsmanship, fairness, equity, dignity, and proportionality, as well as uphold confidentiality, social responsibility, and financial resource development, thereby achieving a balance between administrative performance and institutional sustainability.

Following the conclusion of the supplementary session of the General Assembly, the Board of Directors of the Qatar Basketball Federation held a meeting chaired by Mohammed Saad Al Mughaisib, with the attendance of board members. During this meeting, the 2026 Disciplinary Code was officially adopted, and the heads and members of the relevant committees were appointed.

The meeting resulted in the appointment of Amer Saeed Al Ghafri as Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee and Dr. Nouf Abdullah Al Mohannadi as Chairman of the Appeals Committee.

This step underscores the Federation's commitment to establishing a modern sports oversight system that promotes fairness and transparency, and supports the sustainable development of Qatari basketball, in line with the country's future sporting aspirations.

Al Mughaisib emphasized that the 2026 Basketball Disciplinary Code falls within this comprehensive development framework. It was prepared according to the highest international standards and in accordance with the regulations and bylaws of the International Federation, thus granting it organizational and legislative strength that enhances its effective implementation and contributes to establishing a disciplined and fair sporting environment that supports the pursuit of sporting excellence in the State of Qatar.
