Lebanese Acting Charge d'Affaires to QNA: President Aoun's Qatar Visit Reflects Strength of Bilateral Relations
Doha, April 15 (QNA) - Acting Charge d'Affaires at the Embassy of the Republic of Lebanon to the State of Qatar Farah Berri affirmed that the visit of HE President of Lebanon Joseph Aoun to the State of Qatar comes as a reaffirmation and consolidation of Doha's significance to Lebanon, both government and people.
In an exclusive statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Berri emphasized that the visit also reaffirms the strength of the brotherly relations between the two countries, while serving as an opportunity to discuss key issues of mutual concern, such as halting repeated Israeli aggressions against Lebanon, efforts to uphold the ceasefire, and fostering stability in the region as a whole. Additionally, the visit will address bilateral relations and ways to enhance them.
She noted that during the visit, President Aoun will extend his gratitude to HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani for Qatar's role in contributing to ending the presidential vacuum in Lebanon through its participation in the Quintet Committee, which worked to fulfill the presidential entitlement. She also highlighted Qatar's pioneering role in the field of oil and gas exploration through its partnership with the French company Total.
Berri described Lebanese-Qatari relations as strong and solid, and said they are embodied in Qatar's consistent support for Lebanon, even during its most difficult political, regional, and economic crises. She affirmed that Qatar has maintained this relationship and continued its support for the Lebanese Armed Forces and security institutions.
She pointed out that Qatari diplomacy has played a pivotal role in safeguarding and consolidating civil peace in Lebanon, whether by containing the domestic crisis in 2008 through hosting the Lebanese National Dialogue Conference in Doha, or by its support for Lebanese state institutions.
She praised the State of Qatar's firm stance alongside Lebanon during the Israeli war in 2006, noting that Doha took on the responsibility of rebuilding many destroyed villages and towns in the south. She also highlighted Qatar's contribution to amending the provisions of UN Security Council Resolution 1701 in a way that aligns with Lebanon's interests.
The Acting Charge d'Affaires at the Lebanese Embassy concluded by stressing that the State of Qatar both its government and people has always been a steadfast supporter of Lebanon. (QNA)
