Port Sudan, March 26 (QNA) - HE Sudanese Minister of Culture and Information and Government Spokesperson Khalid Al Aiser affirmed that the liberation of Khartoum marks a pivotal step in regaining control over areas still under the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), particularly in Kordofan and Darfur.

Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Al Aiser stressed that the Sudanese Armed Forces are now better prepared than ever to meet the aspirations of the Sudanese people for complete liberation. He vowed that the government would persist until the rebellion is quashed, cities and rural areas are secured, and full protection is provided to displaced persons' camps in Darfur.

HE the Minister extended his gratitude to all Arab nations, particularly the State of Qatar, for standing by the Sudanese people during this critical chapter of their modern history through the provision of food and medical aid.

His Excellency further emphasized that the Sudanese government prioritizes strengthening its relations with friendly nations, with Qatar at the forefront, to tackle the challenges of post-war reconstruction.

Previously, HE Sudan's Minister of Foreign Affairs Ali Youssef Al Sharif stated to QNA that the Sudanese Armed Forces and supporting troops had achieved a significant victory by liberating the capital, Khartoum, from the rebellion. He reiterated that military operations would continue to pursue rebel forces across all regions, especially in Darfur and Kordofan.

Earlier Wednesday, Chairman of Sudan's Transitional Sovereignty Council Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al Burhan announced the liberation of Khartoum and its recapture from the RSF, who had seized key sovereign facilities, including the Republican Palace and airport, during the first day of the war in April 2023.

The Sudanese army recently declared the recapture of the Republican Palace in central Khartoum from the RSF following fierce battles, claiming to have crushed RSF forces in central Khartoum, the Arab Market area, the Republican Palace, and government ministry buildings. (QNA)
