Doha, March 13 (QNA) - The Director of the Public Parks Department at the Ministry of Municipality, Mohammed Ibrahim Al Sada unveiled the ministry's plans to open more public parks in various municipalities in the near future, bringing the total number of parks in the country to 160.

Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Al Sada noted that the number of public parks in Qatar currently stands at 122, spread across various municipalities, with a total area of ??2.6 million square meters. The total number of parks, squares, and corniches stands at 151, with a total area of ??3.19 million square meters.

He emphasized that the public parks witness a large turnout during the holy month of Ramadan, thanks to the cool weather, which has encouraged families and individuals of various nationalities to make them a prime destination for recreation, entertainment, and a break from the daily routine.

Al Sada explained that many families chose public parks as a destination to break their fast during Maghreb time, given the comprehensive facilities offered by these parks, including seating areas, prayer rooms, restrooms, and areas designated for sports activities and children's games.

He also noted the significant increase in visitor numbers to parks, thanks to the efforts of the parks' supervisory teams, both in terms of maintenance and cleanliness, as well as in terms of security and ongoing coordination between the parks departments in the municipalities to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for visitors.

The Director of the Public Parks Department at the Ministry of Municipality described the level of public satisfaction with the services provided as "very high," as no notable complaints were recorded. He explained that the work teams were ready to respond to any comments and resolve them as quickly as possible.

Regarding future improvements, Director Al Sada indicated that efforts are focused on ensuring efficient park operation, with an emphasis on the cleanliness of facilities, especially prayer rooms, restrooms, and seating areas, to meet the needs of all visitors. He explained that work teams in public parks have been reinforced, particularly in large central parks. A follow-up program has been developed in coordination with municipalities to ensure the presence of security and cleaning teams up to 1:00 AM during the holy month.

As for the sustainability strategy for park management, Mohammed Ibrahim Al Sada, said that the Ministry of Municipality seeks to develop new parks according to environmental sustainability standards. This includes the use of local plants that consume less water, enhancing irrigation systems with treated wastewater, and providing an integrated infrastructure that includes walking paths and shaded seating areas.

He highlighted that the future strategy includes enhancing security and safety within parks by installing surveillance cameras and placing signage explaining general rules, in addition to strengthening partnerships with the private sector to operate kiosks and organize events. (QNA)
