QU Organizes Second Annual Faculty Research Forum
Doha, December 09 (QNA) - The College of Arts and Sciences, in collaboration with the College of Law at Qatar University (QU), organized the Second Annual Faculty Research Forum under the title 'Artificial Intelligence: Prospects for Application and Humanitarian and Legal Perspectives,' with wide participation from faculty members and researchers across various scientific, humanities, and legal departments.
This forum aims to provide an academic platform that enables faculty members to present their latest research output on topics of shared interest and to enhance research collaboration opportunities among researchers of the colleges. It supports integration among its programs, departments, and research centers, and sheds light on the research interests of faculty members, offering both internal and external partners a chance to explore the advanced scientific expertise of the colleges.
The second edition of the forum featured the presentation of 16 research papers during four specialized academic sessions, in addition to six research posters that addressed current issues related to artificial intelligence and its contemporary applications, including its humanitarian, ethical, and legal dimensions.
Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at QU, Dr. Fatima Al Kubaisi said, "Holding this forum reflects the integration among the University's colleges. The College of Arts and Sciences is working alongside the College of Law to provide a platform for rigorous academic dialogue on artificial intelligence, an area that supports Qatar National Vision 2030, which regards this technology as a strategic priority."
Dr. Al Kubaisi pointed out that artificial intelligence has become an integral part of our daily lives, making it a scientific and ethical necessity to discuss its application prospects and its humanitarian and legal implications.
In turn, Dean of the College of Law at QU, Dr. Mohammed Hassan Al Kaabi said, "The forum reflects the depth of academic cooperation between the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Law. This contributes to the production of integrated knowledge that combines law, artificial intelligence, and the humanities, which enables researchers to present authentic models that reflect the values and needs of society."
"Our academic responsibility requires us to provide clear insights that govern the relationship between knowledge and ethics, ensuring the optimal use of artificial intelligence and transforming it into an opportunity for human creativity," he added, pointing out that the State of Qatar is witnessing today an advanced legislative and regulatory movement aligned with the state's vision of building a knowledge-based economy and enacting legislation in step with technological transformations.
For his part, Chair of the Activities and Events Committee at the College of Arts and Sciences, Dr. Chedli Baya Chatti affirmed that the collaboration between the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Law in organizing the Annual Faculty Research Forum reflects the College's commitment to strengthening internal partnerships, which supports scientific research to serve the community and the national development journey.
"The forum enabled the discussion of artificial intelligence as a shared theme among researchers from both colleges, contributing to the development of joint scientific and practical insights that help understand its humanitarian, ethical, and legal dimensions and guide it in a positive direction that serves both the individual and society," he added.
