Macron Says Ukraine Allies to Meet in Paris to Discuss Security Guarantees
Paris, December 29 (QNA) - French President Emmanuel Macron has said that Ukraine's allies will meet in Paris in early January to discuss security guarantees to be offered to Kyiv as part of any future peace agreement with Russia.
In a post on the social media platform X, following talks with US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Macron said France would bring together countries from what he described as a coalition of the willing to finalize concrete contributions.
"We will bring together countries of the coalition of the willing in Paris in early January to finalize each country's concrete contributions," he wrote.
Macron added that progress had been made on security guarantees, which he said would be essential to building a just and lasting peace.
The announcement follows a meeting between the US and Ukrainian presidents in Florida on Sunday, after which Trump expressed some optimism about the possibility of reaching a solution to the conflict, which began in February 2022.
Russia has not yet commented on the proposed talks.(QNA)
