Fifth Day of Weightlifting Competitions See 69kg, 88kg Categories Winners Crowned
Doha, December 24 (QNA) - The 10th Qatar International Weightlifting Cup, the Arab Championship for youth, juniors, and seniors, and the West Asia Championship all continued today for their fifth day. The competitions are organized by the Qatar Weightlifting Federation.
The day’s contests were intense in both the men’s 88 kg category and the women’s 69 kg category, which witnessed strong competition across all three championships in each weight class, along with the crowning of the winning male and female lifters.
In the Arab Championship, the men’s 88 kg category saw the participation of 17 lifters, with fierce competition throughout. In the senior men’s category, Omani lifter Amer Al Khangari won three gold medals: in the snatch after lifting 156 kg, in the clean and jerk after lifting 195 kg, and in the total with an aggregate of 351 kg.
Egyptian lifter Mostafa Mahmoud Bakry claimed two silver medals, in the snatch with a lift of 149 kg and in the total with an aggregate of 324 kg, as well as a bronze medal in the clean and jerk after lifting 175 kg.
Syrian lifter Mohammad Al Khattab won a silver medal in the clean and jerk with a lift of 176 kg and a bronze medal in the total with an aggregate of 315 kg, while Lebanese lifter Ali Al Khalil took the bronze medal in the snatch after lifting 141 kg.
In the youth competition, Egyptian lifter Mostafa Mahmoud Bakry won two gold medals, in the snatch with a lift of 149 kg and in the total with an aggregate of 324 kg, along with a silver medal in the clean and jerk after lifting 175 kg.
Another Syrian lifter, Mohammad Al Khattab, won a gold medal in the clean and jerk after lifting 176 kg, a silver medal in the total with an aggregate of 315 kg, and a bronze medal in the snatch after lifting 139 kg.
Saudi lifter Youssef Fakhri Al Mudrahim won a silver medal in the snatch after lifting 142 kg and a bronze medal in the total with an aggregate of 299 kg, while the bronze medal in the clean and jerk went to Algerian lifter Qassoum Abdulrahman after lifting 158 kg.
In the junior category, Moroccan lifter Zahid Abdulrahim won three gold medals: in the snatch with a lift of 112 kg, in the clean and jerk with a lift of 140 kg, and in the total with an aggregate of 252 kg.
Yemeni lifter Mohammed Adel claimed three silver medals: in the snatch with a lift of 110 kg, in the clean and jerk with a lift of 129 kg, and in the total with an aggregate of 239 kg.
Saudi lifter Ali Hassan Al Sada won three bronze medals: in the snatch with a lift of 101 kg, in the clean and jerk with a lift of 128 kg, and in the total with an aggregate of 229 kg.
In the women’s 69 kg category, which featured highly competitive and closely contested performances, Tunisian lifter Jawaher Jasmi in the senior women’s division won two gold medals, in the clean and jerk after lifting 120 kg and in the total with an aggregate of 205 kg, as well as a silver medal in the snatch after lifting 85 kg.
Egyptian lifter Abeer Mohamed won a gold medal in the snatch after lifting 90 kg, a silver medal in the total with an aggregate of 193 kg, and a bronze medal in the clean and jerk after lifting 103 kg.
Moroccan lifter Shadia Chachoui claimed a silver medal in the clean and jerk after lifting 104 kg and two bronze medals, in the snatch with a lift of 81 kg and in the total with an aggregate of 185 kg.
In the young women’s category, Egyptian lifter Abeer Mohamed won two gold medals, in the snatch with a lift of 90 kg and in the total with an aggregate of 193 kg, as well as a silver medal in the clean and jerk after lifting 103 kg.
Moroccan lifter Shadia Chachoui won a gold medal in the clean and jerk after lifting 104 kg and two silver medals, in the snatch with a lift of 81 kg and in the total with an aggregate of 185 kg.
Saudi lifter Nahid Mohammed claimed three bronze medals: in the snatch after lifting 44 kg, in the clean and jerk after lifting 54 kg, and in the total with an aggregate of 98 kg.
In the girls’ junior category, Egyptian lifter Abeer Mohamed secured three gold medals: in the snatch after lifting 90 kg, in the clean and jerk after lifting 103 kg, and in the total with an aggregate of 193 kg.
Syrian lifter Lujain Zarqaa won three silver medals: in the snatch after lifting 55 kg, in the clean and jerk after lifting 77 kg, and in the total with an aggregate of 132 kg.
Saudi lifter Nahid Mohammed also won three bronze medals in this category, in the snatch with a lift of 44 kg, in the clean and jerk with a lift of 54 kg, and in the total with an aggregate of 98 kg. (QNA)
