Asian Official Praises Qatar's Efforts in Promoting Weightlifting Regionally, Internationally
Doha, December 23 (QNA) - Secretary General of the West Asian Weightlifting Federation Mustafa Saleh praised the State of Qatar's efforts to enhance the status of weightlifting regionally and internationally, noting the distinguished Qatari organization of three international, Arab and Asian weightlifting championships.
Doha is now hosting the 10th edition of the Qatar International Weightlifting Cup 2025, alongside the Arab Weightlifting Championship for seniors, youth and juniors, as well as the West Asian Weightlifting Championship, which are organized by the Qatar Weightlifting Federation and conclude on Friday.
In a statement on the sidelines of the competitions, the Secretary General of the West Asian Weightlifting Federation said that Qatar's hosting of three weightlifting championships reflects its clear commitment to enhancing the status of this sport regionally and internationally.
He added that the State of Qatar has once again proven its superior ability to organize major sporting events according to the highest international standards. He noted that during the three tournaments he witnessed the highest levels of professionalism in organization, in terms of advanced infrastructure, logistical readiness and quality of services provided to participating delegations, as well as the warm welcome and hospitality that had a great impact on the success of these events.
He indicated that the West Asian Championship was characterized by a high technical level in light of the strong competition between elite male and female weightlifters, in addition to the high level of competition in the Arab Championship and the Qatar International Cup, which reflects the development of technical performance and the strength of the level of preparation of the participating teams.
He considered that the three championships formed an ideal platform to discover promising talents who will have a bright future on the international scene, noting that there are names that have emerged strongly and will be strongly present through the upcoming events.
Secretary General of the West Asian Weightlifting Federation Mustafa Saleh emphasized that what Qatar has presented as an exemplary model in sports organization enhances the federation's confidence in future cooperation with it to organize more championships and events that contribute to the development of weightlifting in the region. He thanked the Qatar Weightlifting Federation and all the organizing committees for the great efforts that resulted in a brilliant success worthy of praise.
For his part, President of the Sudanese Weightlifting Federation Adel Elhaj praised Qatar's outstanding hosting of a number of regional and international weightlifting championships, which reflected an honorable image of Qatar's organizational capabilities and its keenness to support sports in the region.
In his remarks, Elhaj said that the organization of the three championships was carried out at the highest level of professionalism and precision, whether in terms of technical equipment, logistical services, or the ideal competitive environment that was made available to the athletes.
He expressed his hope that such tournaments would continue to promote the spirit of fair competition, provide platforms for exchanging experiences, and support Arab athletes in their journey towards excellence.
He stressed that Sudan's participation in the Arab Championship, despite the difficult circumstances Sudan is going through, came from the federation's belief in the importance of presence and competition, and keenness to raise Sudan's name high in sports forums, as the participation was a message of hope and resilience, especially in light of the support and facilities provided by the State of Qatar.
