AFCON: Senegal and DR Congo Defeat Botswana and Benin
Rabat, December 23 (QNA) - Senegal defeated Botswana 3-0 in Group D of the 35th edition of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
Senegalese goals were scored by Nicholas Jackson (two goals) in the (40) and (58) minutes, and Cherif Ndiaye in the (90) minute.
With this result, Senegal tops Group D with three points and three goals, while Botswana remains without any points.
In the same group, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) defeated Benin 1-0 with a goal scored by Theo Bongonda in the 16th minute, giving the team three points and placing them second in the group, while Benin has zero points and will face Botswana next Saturday. Meanwhile, Senegal will meet Congo in a match to search for the top spot. (QNA)
