Doha, December 21 (QNA) - Doha will host on Monday the meeting of the Executive Committee and the Electoral General Assembly of the West Asian Weightlifting Federation, to be held on the sidelines of the ongoing combined championships: the 10th Qatar International Weightlifting Cup 2025, the Arab Weightlifting Championship for youth, juniors and seniors, and the West Asian Weightlifting Championship for the same age categories. The events are organized by the Qatar Weightlifting Federation and will continue until December 27, with wide participation.

The Executive Committee will discuss several key items on the agenda, most notably the review of administrative and technical reports, discussions on future development programs for the sport across the West Asian region, and preparations for the upcoming phase. These discussions aim to strengthen the presence of weightlifting and raise the standard of competition at both the regional and continental levels.

Following the Executive Committee meeting, the Electoral General Assembly of the West Asian Weightlifting Federation will be convened the same day to elect a new Board of Directors for the 2025–2029 term, with the participation of representatives from member national federations. The elections are expected to witness strong competition for leadership positions, reflecting a shared commitment to further developing the sport and expanding its participation base across the region.
