Arab Officials Praise Qatar's Organization of International, Arab and West Asian Weightlifting Championships
Doha, December 21 (QNA) - Arab sports officials have praised the high standard of organization and the strong level of competition at the three international, Arab and Asian weightlifting championships currently being held in Doha. The events, organized simultaneously by the Qatar Weightlifting Federation, will continue until December 27.
In their statements, the officials affirmed that Qatar has provided all the necessary logistical and organizational requirements to ensure the success of the 10th Qatar International Weightlifting Cup 2025, the Arab Weightlifting Championship for youth, juniors and seniors, and the West Asian Weightlifting Championship for the same age categories. They noted that these conditions have enabled male and female lifters to deliver their best performances.
The officials commended Qatar's prominent role in promoting and developing weightlifting at both the Arab and continental levels, highlighting the country's annual hosting of numerous international, continental and Arab championships. These events provide valuable opportunities for lifters to raise their technical standards, compete against world-class athletes, and gain new experience.
President of the Kuwait Weightlifting Federation and Vice President of the Arab Weightlifting Federation, Talal Al Jassar praised Qatar's outstanding organization of the three combined championships, as well as the strong competitions witnessed during the first two days. He stressed that participation in such events, which bring together male and female lifters from various countries, contributes significantly to gaining experience, developing technical performance, and enhancing preparation for competitions at the local, regional and international levels.
Al Jassar expressed his appreciation for the role played by the Qatar Weightlifting Federation in promoting and developing the sport through its regular hosting of championships, commending the excellent organization and generous hospitality, and wishing all participants success in achieving advanced results.
He noted that Doha has become a global model in organizing sporting events, particularly in weightlifting, and added that participation in the three championships forms part of Kuwait's efforts to develop the sport and strengthen its presence on the regional and international stage.
Meanwhile, President of the Algerian Weightlifting Federation, Kamal Saidi expressed full satisfaction with the participation of the Algerian national team in the ongoing Arab Championship in Qatar. He praised the technical level and positive results achieved by Algerian lifters so far, which reflect their high level of readiness.
Saidi also commended Qatar's excellent organization of the Arab Championship, the Qatar International Cup and the West Asian Championship, emphasizing that Qatar has provided all suitable logistical and organizational conditions to ensure the success of the competitions, enabling lifters to perform at their best.
In the same context, Secretary General of the Union of Arab National Olympic Committees, Abdulaziz Mohammed Al Anazi praised the significant efforts of Mohammed bin Yousef Al Mana, President of the Arab Weightlifting Federation, in serving Arab weightlifting and enhancing its standing at both the continental and international levels. He highlighted the tangible achievements accomplished under Al Mana's leadership, which have contributed to developing the sport's framework and strengthening its Arab and global presence.
Al Anazi affirmed that the Union of Arab National Olympic Committees highly values its ongoing cooperation with the Arab Weightlifting Federation, noting that this collaboration represents a successful model of partnership between specialized federations and national Olympic committees. (QNA)
