US Senate Votes to Repeal Caesar Act Sanctions on Syria
Washington, December 17 (QNA) - The US Senate has approved the 2026 National Defense Authorization Act, which includes a provision repealing sanctions imposed on Syria under the Caesar Act since 2019.
The bill was passed by a majority vote and has been sent to President Donald Trump for signature, which would bring it into force.
The move follows a similar vote in the House of Representatives earlier this week, where the measure passed by 312 votes to 112.
The vote marks the final step in Congress, paving the way for the lifting of US sanctions on Syria once the president signs the bill. (QNA)
