Arab Gulf Cup Federation Secretary-General Praises Qatar's Continued Support for Young Football Talent
Doha, December 16 (QNA) - Secretary-General of the Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation (AGCFF), Jassim Sultan Al Rumaihi, underlined that the Gulf Cup U-23 tournament recently hosted by Doha constituted an important milestone in Qatar's busy football season. He noted that the tournament embodies the advanced standing the country has achieved in organizing major football championships at both regional and international levels.
The successful organization of the tournament reaffirms Qatar's continuous commitment to supporting young football talents in the region, and provides an exceptional competitive platform amidst an atmosphere filled with passion for football, Al Rumaihi said in a statement.
He also extended his congratulations to all participating teams, praising their high technical performance, and specifically congratulated the Saudi U-23 national team on deservedly winning the title.
The tournament featured 14 matches held at the Aspire Zone stadiums, the same venues that previously hosted the FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025, which was described as historic.
The AGCFF Secretary-General pointed out that the U-23 tournament is an extension of a series of championships Qatar is hosting this year, including the Gulf Cup U-17, which Saudi Arabia won after defeating Iraq 2-0 in the final. This list also includes the ongoing FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025, which runs until December 18, and the FIFA Intercontinental Cup Qatar 2025, which concludes tomorrow.
Al Rumaihi concluded by stating that the success of these consecutive events reinforces Qatar's image as a global sports hub capable of hosting major simultaneous events with high efficiency. (QNA)
