Doha, December 15 (QNA) - The State of Qatar has won membership on the Executive Council of the International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM).

According to a statement by Qatar Museums, Director of Cultural Heritage Protection at Qatar Museums, Abdulatif Al Jasmi, was elected to the Executive Board of ICCROM during the 34th General Assembly of the organization, held in Rome from December 10 to 12.

Al Jasmi will represent Qatar as an elected member of the Council for a four-year term.

This achievement is a culmination of Qatar's sustained commitment to cultural preservation, led by a national effort through the expertise of institutions such as Qatar Museums. This success also reflects the international community's profound confidence in Qatar's capacity to significantly influence global conservation and restoration policies and drive initiatives for protecting cultural heritage worldwide.

The Executive Board of ICCROM is one of the organization's key governing bodies, responsible for setting overall policies, approving work plans and programs, and overseeing the implementation of international activities aimed at supporting member states in training, heritage management, capacity building, and safeguarding cultural assets at risk.
