Qatar National Day/ Thailand's Ambassador to QNA: National Day an Occasion to Celebrate Development of Qatar, Unity of Its People
Doha, December 15 (QNA) - HE Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the State of Qatar Sira Swangsilpa said that Qatar National Day is a truly meaningful occasion that celebrates the unity, resilience, and visionary leadership of the Qatari people, and it honours the legacy of the Founder Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani.
In special statements to Qatar News Agency (QNA), His Excellency said that for both citizens and residents, this day reflects pride in Qatar’s achievements and confidence in its dynamic future under the leadership of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani.
He stressed that Qatar stands as a reliable partner and an active global mediator in promoting dialogue, peace, and sustainable development.
His Excellency noted Qatar’s steadfast commitment to promoting enduring peace and sustainable development, particularly in conflict-affected regions, in addition to Qatar’s role as a trusted mediator, a committed development partner, and a provider of humanitarian assistance has been exemplary.
His Excellency the Ambassador highlighted that Qatar has placed human dignity at the heart of its international engagements, reaffirming it as the cornerstone of conflict resolution and development — an approach that strongly resonates with Thailand’s own foreign policy principles based on peaceful settlement of disputes.
Through dialogue, mediation, and humanitarian engagement, Qatar has shown how a principled foreign policy can foster stability and reconciliation.
Thailand will always remember with deep gratitude Qatar’s crucial humanitarian role in facilitating the safe release of Thai nationals affected by the Gaza crisis, he added.
Such efforts reaffirm Qatar’s growing role as a bridge-builder and peace facilitator — an example of compassion and leadership that extends far beyond the region, including its contribution to the ceasefire agreement reached in mid-October 2025, a significant step toward restoring peace and stability in the Meddle East, he added.
His Excellency the Ambassador said that Qatar’s transformation over the past decades has been remarkable. Guided by the Qatar National Vision 2030, the country has made impressive progress in infrastructure, education, health, innovation, and sustainability; in addition to its successful hosting of the FIFA World Cup 2022, numerous global events, and multilateral conferences.
Regarding joint relations, HE Sira Swangsilpa noted that this year, Thailand and Qatar proudly celebrate 45 years of diplomatic relations — a partnership built on mutual respect, shared aspirations, and genuine friendship. "Our relations continue to grow across all dimensions, from trade and investment to renewable energy, food security, sustainable tourism, and technological innovation", he said.
In recent years, bilateral trade between Thailand and Qatar has reached a substantial value of over USD 4 billion. Thailand’s main exports to Qatar include automobile parts, gems and jewelry, and air conditioners, while Qatar exports liquefied natural gas (LNG), crude oil, and fertilizers to Thailand. The establishment of QatarEnergy’s office in Bangkok underscores the growing importance of LNG trade between our countries, he added.
Concluding his statements to QNA, HE Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the State of Qatar Sira Swangsilpa reaffirmed Thailand's readiness to work closely with Qatar to build a resilient, innovation-driven, and sustainable future, aiming to advance cooperation in key strategic areas where both countries excel — including renewable energy, food security, halal science and innovation, medical and wellness tourism, and advanced technology. HE the Ambassador said that Thailand is also looking forward to working hand in hand with Qatar to promote peace and stability in both the Middle East and Southeast Asia. (QNA)
