Doha, December 13 (QNA) - President of the Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA), Eng. Ahmad Abdulla Al Muslemani affirmed that the National Day is a cherished occasion that reinforces the values ​​of loyalty and belonging, deepens feelings of pride in the homeland and of its wise leadership, reminding everyone of the journey of giving and renaissance whose foundations were laid by the Founder Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani, and which continued under the leadership of  HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani.

Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Eng. Al Muslemani noted that the National Day embodies the unity of the leadership and the people in the comprehensive development process, and affirms the State's commitment to the authentic principles and values ​​upon which the national renaissance was founded.

It is a day that embodies the unity of the leadership and the people, and inspires us to give more to serve the nation and contribute to its development journey. It reinforces the spirit of responsibility and joint action among the members of society, and renews our commitment to supporting progress and construction to achieve prosperity, he added.

He reiterated that the celebration of the National Day is an official and popular referendum that embodies the cohesion between the leadership and the people, and an eternal national occasion that affirms the values ​​of loyalty and belonging, and motivates everyone to continue giving to achieve a more advanced and sustainable future, and to recall the sacrifices and achievements whose foundations were laid by the Founder and whose path was followed by the leaders after him.

CRA President pointed out that the Authority will continue its commitment to building a sophisticated and secure communications and information technology sector, fostering a fair regulatory environment that encourages innovation and investment in digital infrastructure, and developing postal services to meet the needs of society.

The Authority is working, in accordance with its future strategy, to support digital transformation systems, empower the national economy, and promote sustainable development, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Third National Development Strategy 2024-2030, he said.

He added that the Authority has achieved qualitative accomplishments during the current year that reflect its commitment to developing the communications, information technology and postal services sectors, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Third National Development Strategy.

Eng. Al Muslemani spoke about the achievements of the CRA in the communications and information technology sector, noting that thanks to the Authority's efforts and cooperation with communications service providers and national institutions, the State of Qatar ranked third in the Middle East and North Africa region, with an adoption rate of Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) of 40.36 percent, among the top 45 countries globally, according to APNIC Labs statistics for November 2025, which reflects Qatar's leadership in building an advanced digital infrastructure prepared for the requirements of the future.

The State of Qatar also recorded a distinguished global performance in the Telecommunication Development Index (IDI) by obtaining 98.4 points out of 100, in addition to launching the official website for the International Telecommunication Union's Plenipotentiary Conference (PP-26) scheduled to be held in Doha in 2026, as well as ensuring the optimal use of frequencies and protecting networks from interference through the Authority's advanced space radio monitoring center, which was launched at the end of 2024, the second of its kind in the region and the sixteenth worldwide, and also launching the caller ID initiative to reduce fraudulent calls and enhance confidence in telecommunications services.

In the postal services sector, the postal law was activated by appointing Qatar Post as the public postal operator, in a step that represents a major milestone in the sector's organization, which contributes to supporting the growth of e-commerce and establishing the foundations of a diversified economy, in addition to issuing the Consumer Protection Policy and Regulations in implementation of the Postal Services Regulation Law, as well as issuing 11 licenses to postal service providers to enhance competition, and launching a specialized service to receive and settle consumer complaints and improve the user experience, Eng. Al Muslemani said.

On the international level, Eng. Al Muslemani said that the State of Qatar has announced its candidacy for membership in the International Telecommunication Union for the year 2027-2030, confirming its leading position globally, while preparations continue in the country to host the Plenipotentiary Conference of the International Telecommunication Union for the year 2026, which will be held under his chairmanship, as the appointed president of the conference.

Regarding the qualitative benefits of using modern technologies such as digitalization and artificial intelligence, he said that the CRA attaches great importance to promoting digital transformation and adopting modern technologies such as artificial intelligence, considering them a fundamental pillar for developing services and facilitating access to them.

Digital solutions have contributed to simplifying procedures, improving information management, and providing flexible and transparent electronic channels for individuals and companies. They have also enhanced digital analytics capabilities for monitoring the quality of telecommunications services and improving the digital experience in the postal sector. He noted that the CRA continues to work to solidify this approach in line with global developments and to foster a modern regulatory environment that supports national development and translates Qatar's vision of building a knowledge-based economy.

In his remarks to QNA, the CRA President addressed the Authority's future strategic plans for the next phase, saying that it will focus during the next year on developing its regulatory system in the communications, information technology, postal services, and digital media access sectors, by updating existing frameworks and establishing new frameworks in accordance with best regulatory practices and international standards, in order to enhance market efficiency, support innovation and investment, and improve the quality of services provided to the community, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Third National Development Strategy 2024-2030.

He added that the CRA is also paying special attention to preparing to host the International Telecommunication Union Plenipotentiary Conference (PP-26) in Doha in 2026, which reflects Qatar's leading position in the global digital landscape and highlights its role in promoting sustainable digital development. He noted that through these efforts, the Authority seeks to contribute to achieving the objectives of the Third National Strategy and to support the digital transformation journey towards an advanced and sustainable knowledge economy.
