UNESCO Announces 21st Session of Intergovernmental Committee for Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage to Be Held in China in November
New Delhi, December 12 (QNA) – The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has decided to hold the 21st regular session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Xiamen, China, from November 30 to December 5, 2026.
This announcement was made during the 20th regular session of the Committee, currently being held in New Delhi, India.
The Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage is the statutory body of the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.
It meets annually in regular session to oversee the implementation of the Convention, discuss operational guidelines, examine periodic reports submitted by States Parties, evaluate nominations for inscription on UNESCO's lists and registers of intangible cultural heritage, and consider requests for international assistance.
