Doha Institute Hosts Activity to Raise Youth Awareness on Human Rights
Doha, December 10 (QNA) - On the occasion of Human Rights Day, the Human Rights Program at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies, in collaboration with the United Nations Training and Documentation Centre for South-West Asia and the Arab Region, organized a cinematic event on cinema for thought, exploring human rights through youth film discussions.
The event highlighted the role of visual arts, particularly cinema, as a creative tool to raise awareness on human rights and engage youth in dialogue.
It featured six short films by young filmmakers from Palestine, Yemen, Sudan, Lebanon, Pakistan, and Mauritania, addressing issues such as economic, social, and cultural rights, displacement, identity, children’s rights, education, work, and rights of persons with disabilities.
Interactive discussions included contributions from UN officials, academics, youth program experts, and the filmmakers themselves.
Speakers emphasized the importance of youth participation in human rights debates, producing new perspectives on social justice, empowering marginalized groups, and inspiring initiatives for more inclusive societies.
The event concluded with a call for continued collaboration on educational and creative programs that amplify youth voices. (QNA)
