Doha, November 03 (QNA) - HE Minister of Social Welfare in Sierra Leone, Melrose Karminty, has heaped praise on the significant strides the State of Qatar has made in the area of social development, affirming that the convening of the Second World Summit for Social Development in Qatar on Tuesday comes at a consequential moment since the Copenhagen Summit in 1995, providing an opportunity to explore practical solutions for social development at a time when the world is passing through a critical phase.

Karminty highlighted to Qatar News Agency (QNA) that Sierra Leone wishes to exchange expertise with Qatar throughout the summit, emphasizing her intention to both share expertise and learn from the experiences of other nations.

She underlined that the summit provides a platform to explore the support Sierra Leone needs to work together as development partners in addressing the most pressing global challenges.

She further noted that her country aims to achieve social development, including the eradication of poverty as outlined in the Copenhagen Declaration, while ensuring the provision of skills, capacity-building, and access to decent job opportunities for the people of Sierra Leone, including men and women.

Sierra Leone likewise seeks to foster social inclusion, particularly for women, persons with disabilities, and young people, who are often excluded. This summit represents an opportunity to share solutions for achieving social cohesion and inclusion for all, leaving no one behind, Karminty said.

Karminty further asserted that the broad participation in the Doha Summit aims to facilitate collaboration among all participating nations since the Copenhagen Summit and address issues related to poverty and exclusion, ensuring the inclusion of the most vulnerable segments of society worldwide.
