Doha, November 25 (QNA) - The WISE 12 Summit concluded Tuesday following a series of panel discussions, research report launches, and workshops that explored key challenges and opportunities in the global education sector, including artificial intelligence, digital well-being, culturally grounded learning, and quantum innovation.
With the participation of government leaders, experts, and academics from dozens of countries, the summit reinforced the role of WISE, an initiative of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, as an international platform shaping the future of education.
A high-level session on expanding the scale of AI tools for impact highlighted the global momentum toward adopting artificial intelligence solutions within education systems.
Discussions emphasized the need to strengthen data governance, integrate smart tools across education ministries, and empower teachers amid rapidly evolving learning environments.
Speakers stressed that the success of educational innovation relies on alignment with national curricula, building teacher confidence, and adapting to the diverse realities of schools, in line with the summit's central theme: ensuring that innovation remains rooted in the daily experience of teachers and learners.
The summit also witnessed the launch of UNESCO's Global Education Monitoring Report, produced in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, which outlined international trends in digital equity, inclusion, resilience, and education financing.
A session on advanced technologies and quantum computing examined the impact of next-generation technologies on learning economies, with experts underscoring the need for new educational approaches capable of keeping pace with accelerating technological transformations, particularly as traditional pathways, such as school and university learning, struggle to adapt at the required speed.
Continuing its focus on the role of teachers, the session on AI tools for teachers, featuring researchers from MIT and Qatar Foundation, presented new findings on teacher readiness and the effectiveness of AI-supported professional development tools.
An Arabic-language session on education in times of conflict addressed community responses, resilience-building, and the need for education systems capable of withstanding humanitarian and political crises.
In his closing remarks, Dr. Stavros Yiannouka, delivering his final address as CEO of WISE, underscored the imperative that education remains a deeply human endeavor despite the rapid rise of digital transformation.
Dr. Asiya Kazmi, the incoming CEO of WISE, emphasized that the program's renewed framework, which includes global research and school innovation initiatives, aims to ensure that innovation stays human-centered and grounded in real-world impact.
She noted that the current moment is full of promise yet marked by major challenges, and that with rapid digital developments, innovation must evolve from aspiration into tangible progress for every learner. (QNA)
