Doha, November 23 (QNA) - Head Coach of the Qatari national football team, Julen Lopetegui, has announced the 23-man squad selected to take part in the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025.

The squad includes three goalkeepers Shehab Al Laithi, Meshaal Barsham, and Mahmoud Abu Nada, along with players Ayoub Mohammed, Al Hashimi Al Hussain, Ahmed Alaa, Ahmed Fathy, Akram Afif, Sultan Al Brake, Tarek Salman, and Ademilson Junior.

Also named to the squad are Jassem Gaber, Khaled Ali, Assim Madibo, Isa Lay, Abdulaziz Hatem, Lucas Mendes, Mohammed Khaled, Mohammed Munaei, Mohammed Muntari, Mohammed Waad, Homam Al Ameen, and Youssef Ayman.

The list showed the absence of several players who were present in previous national team lists, for various reasons, such as Almoez Ali, Hassan Al Haydos, Khoukhi Boualem, Pedro Miguel, Karim Boudiaf, Ismail Mohammed, and Ahmed Suhail.

Qatar will compete in Group A alongside Tunisia and the two teams advancing from the qualifiers between Syria and South Sudan, and Palestine and Libya.

The tournament will feature teams from across the Arab world, with 11 nations from the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and 11 from the Confederation of African Football (CAF), including defending champions Algeria, in addition to host nation Qatar. The second edition of the competition is scheduled to take place from 1 to 18 December 2025. (QNA)
