Mogadishu, November 18 (QNA) - Somalia welcomed the signing of the Doha Framework Peace Agreement between the government of the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Congo River Alliance/March 23 Movement, calling the step a constructive and promising development within broader efforts to achieve lasting stability in the country's eastern regions.
In a statement Tuesday, the Somali government praised Qatar's tireless efforts in facilitating the process, saying its sustained diplomatic engagement helped create a favorable climate for constructive dialogue and provided a practical extension of the principles set out in the Doha Declaration.
The government also commended the valuable and coordinated role played by the United States, Togo, and the African Union Commission, noting that their support and cooperation added momentum to bridging differences between the two sides.
Somalia expressed hope that forthcoming technical protocols and implementation mechanisms would consolidate this progress and establish a coherent, achievable, and inclusive roadmap toward sustainable peace.
On November 15, the Congolese government and the Congo River Alliance/M23 signed the Doha Framework Peace Agreement. The accord represents a new milestone in the peace process facilitated by Qatar, building on the momentum of the "Doha Declaration of Principles" signed on July 19, 2025. (QNA)
