UN: Thousands of Displaced People Fleeing El Fasher Arrive in Ad-Dabba Every Hour
Geneva, November 17 (QNA) – The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) confirmed Monday that thousands of displaced people fleeing El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur State in western Sudan, are arriving every hour in Ad-Dabba, a city in the Northern State.
In a statement, the UNHCR reported that thousands of families are fleeing the violence in El Fasher and arriving in Ad-Dabba exhausted and traumatized. The agency stressed the urgent need to support relief efforts to ensure aid reaches those in need and to stand by the displaced.
The UNHCR explained that the ongoing conflict in Sudan is uprooting people's lives and that families in the Darfur region are fleeing daily amidst bloody clashes.
It confirmed that it is providing emergency assistance to those displaced from El Fasher, but emphasized that the scale of the crisis is escalating and urgent support is required.
The commission had confirmed that the Sudan crisis represents the largest displacement case in the world, with the number of displaced people reaching 12 million, and that thousands of families are still continuing to flee from El Fasher and other areas in Darfur. (QNA)
