Canberra, November 16 (QNA) - Qatar's beach volleyball duo, Sharif Younes and Ahmed Tejan, defeated Switzerland in straight sets (21-15, 21-15) during the preliminary round of the Adelaide 2025 Beach Volleyball World Championship in Australia.
Competing in Group 10 alongside Austria, Switzerland, and Cuba, Qatar secured its second victory in the tournament, following an opening win over Cuba (21-18, 21-14).
The team showcased strong coordination, effective court coverage, and consistent performance to dominate the Swiss pair.
Qatar will conclude its group-stage matches on Monday against Austria, in a clash expected to determine the group's top position.
The Qatari team has recently enjoyed international success, including a bronze medal at Tokyo 2020, fourth place at Paris 2024, and eight gold medals in various competitions this season, reflecting the nation's growing strength in beach volleyball. (QNA)
