Riyadh, November 14 (QNA) - Qatar's national handball team defeated its Iranian counterpart 39-23 in their match today in the first round of the handball competition at the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games, currently taking place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and continuing until Nov. 21.
With this victory, the Qatari team earned its first two points in Group A, which also includes the United Arab Emirates and the Maldives.
The Qatari team is scheduled to play its second match the day after tomorrow, Sunday, against the UAE, before concluding its group-stage campaign next Tuesday with a match against the Maldives.
It is worth noting that the Qatar national team won the gold medal in the previous edition of the Games, held in Konya, Turkiye, in 2022, after defeating the Turkish team 26-23 in the final. (QNA)
