London, November 11 (QNA) - HE Minister of Finance, Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, participated in a panel discussion entitled "Financing Panel Market Access and Future Funding Opportunities", alongside Chief Executive Officer of the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG), David Schwimmer.
The session took place on the sidelines of the launch of "Qatar Day" in London, United Kingdom, and addressed key topics related to Qatar's economic transformation and its leadership in sustainable finance, as well as the opportunities offered by Qatar National Vision 2030 to achieve comprehensive and sustainable economic development.
آ  The session highlighted the Third National Development Strategy (NDS3), which emphasises environmental sustainability and the expansion of market access and funding channels through both conventional and sukuk issuances.
Reference was also made to the Qatar Central Bank's (QCB) Sustainability and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Strategy, as well as Qatar's issuance of USD2.5 billion in green bonds the first of its kind in the regionآ to finance environmentally friendly projects.
These initiatives underscore the country's position as a leading regional hub for sustainable finance.
آ  The discussion further underlined the strong international investor confidence in Qatar's economy, with the State having raised USD46.9 billion from global debt markets between 2020 and 2025 (year-to-date).
The panel also noted the significant potential for Qatari banks and corporates to further diversify funding sources. The "Qatar Day" event serves as an important platform to highlight the growing partnership between Qatar and global investors, reinforcing the country's role as a dynamic and sustainable financial center on the international stage.
