Doha, October 08 (QNA) – Qatar's hosting of the FIVB Beach Volleyball U18 World Championship marks a historic first for the region, underscoring the nation’s growing reputation as a global hub for major sporting events.

Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Ali Ghanem Al Kuwari, President of both the Qatar and West Asia Volleyball Associations, expressed pride in bringing the championship to Doha.

Qatar is proud to host this major event, which brings together 64 teams from around the world, and it is fully prepared to deliver an exceptional tournament on all levels, Al Kuwari said.

He added that the tournament not only reflects Qatar's organizational capabilities but also provides a unique platform for local athletes to gain international experience.

This is a vital opportunity for national teams to grow. Competing against top-level international talent will motivate Qatar's young players and help them develop their skills, he said.

Meanwhile, board member of the Qatar Volleyball Association, Mohammed Salem Al Kuwari, echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the trust placed in Qatar by the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB).

Hosting this world championship is a reflection of the international federation's confidence in Qatar. It cements the nation's status as a premier destination for world-class sports events, he said.

Al Kuwari also praised the tournament's smooth start, saying the high level of organization had been evident from the very first day of qualifiers.

Qatar is participating in the tournament with two men’s teams and two women’s teams.

The qualifying rounds kicked off today at Al Gharrafa Beach Courts, while the main draw begins on Wednesday, featuring 64 teams (32 men’s and 32 women’s teams) representing 55 countries. (QNA)
