Doha, October 05 (QNA) - Al Sadd edged past Al Ahli with a narrow 27-26 victory today in the second round of the 2025-2026 Qatar Men’s Handball League.

Despite trailing 14-17 at halftime, Al Sadd mounted an impressive comeback in the second half to claim the win by a single goal. With this result, Al Sadd moved up to four points, equaling Al Ahli's tally, as both teams now sit on level footing.

In another match from the same round, Al Wakrah delivered a strong performance to defeat Qatar SC 24-19. Al Wakrah led 12-9 at halftime and maintained their momentum in the second half to secure the five-goal win. The result lifted Al Wakrah to four points, while Qatar SC remain on two.

The second round continues tomorrow with three fixtures: Al Arabi will face Al Shamal, Al Khor take on Al Duhail, and Al Gharafa meet Al Rayyan.

Al Arabi are the reigning champions, having clinched the league title in the 2024-2025 season. Al Duhail finished as runners-up, while Al Rayyan claimed third place.

Historically, Al Rayyan holds the record for the most league titles, with 15 championships to their name. Al Sadd follows with nine titles, while Al Duhail has secured five. Al Ahli and the now-defunct El Jaish (Army Club) have each won four titles. Al Arabi holds three, Qatar SC two, and both Al Gharafa and Al Wakrah have won the league once. (QNA)
