Second-ranked in the world, Paul Coll thrashed top-ranked Egyptian Mostafa Asal in the men's final, 11-9, 6-11, 11-8, 11-5, in a 68-minute thriller.
For the second year in a row, Mostafa Asal fell short in the Qatar Classic final, having also lost in 2024 to Peruvian Diego Elias, who claimed the title.
Coll had advanced to the final by overcoming England's George Bryan in straight games, 11-5, 11-3, 11-5, in the semifinal.
Meanwhile, Asal secured his spot in the final with an 11-4, 11-6, 11-6 victory over compatriot Fares Dessouki in the other semifinal.
On the women's side, El Hammamy, the world's second-ranked player, claimed the championship by defeating compatriot and defending champion Nour El Sherbini, 11-6, 15-13, 11-8, in a 41-minute showdown.
El Hammamy reached the final after a semifinal win against fellow Egyptian Amina Orfi, 11-9, 11-6, 11-7, while El Sherbini advanced after defeating Belgium's sixth-ranked Tinne Gilis, 11-6, 11-6, 12-10.
This marks the second Qatar Classic title for El Hammamy, who also defeated Nour El Sherbini in the 2023 final, winning three games to two.
HE President of the Qatar Tennis, Squash and Badminton Federation Nasser bin Ghanim Al Khelaifi, alongside Secretary-General of the Federation Tarek Zeinel and Chairman of the Professional Squash Association Players' Council Alex Gough, handed over trophies to the champions.
Paul Coll expressed his immense gratification at claiming the prestigious Super Platinum event title, underscoring his dominance on the international squash stage.
There is immense pleasure in winning this title at a tournament that is considered among the foremost in the sport, Coll affirmed to Qatar News Agency (QNA).
He added that tournament organization in Qatar is incredibly professional and world-class, coupled with perfect atmospheres, emphasizing that he always enjoys participating and winning the title in Doha every year.
The final was so tough, especially against the world No.1, Coll said, adding that he had nonetheless succeeded in maintaining his concentration and taking advantage of his foe's weaknesses to achieve victory and take a victory lap with the title.
El Hammamy, for her part, affirmed to QNA that the tournament was massive and that she is always keen to participate in Qatar in pursuit of the title.
She thanked the federation and curators for their steadfast efforts in organizing the tournament, describing it as one of the biggest championships globally.
El Hammamy said she managed to take full control of the match as she knows her compatriot Nour El Sherbini's playing style well, noting that defeating her is never an easy task, but she rose to the occasion and captured the title. (QNA)
