Qatar Chamber Discusses Enhancing Trade Cooperation with China's Hong Kong

Doha, October 22 (QNA) - The Qatar Chamber discussed ways to enhance economic cooperation between the State of Qatar and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China, and the important role of the private sector in stimulating trade and investment exchange.

This came during the meeting of First Vice Chairman of the Qatar Chamber Mohammed bin Ahmed bin Twar Al Kuwari with Director-General of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office for the GCC Region Simon Chan.

In his remarks, Mohammed bin Ahmed bin Twar Al Kuwari affirmed the Qatari business community's interest in exploring investment opportunities in Hong Kong, particularly in the technology and innovation sectors. He expressed his hope that the coming period will witness the establishment of alliances and partnerships between companies from both sides, noting the broad prospects for cooperation and the promising potential offered by both markets.

He further underscored the chamber's keenness to foster collaboration between Qatari and Hong Kong enterprises, stressing its readiness to support Hong Kong investors seeking to invest in the Qatari market.

He also highlighted that the volume of trade between Qatar and Hong Kong reached QR 2.5 billion in 2024, compared to QR 1.4 billion in 2023, registering a notable growth of 79 percent.

For his part, the Director-General of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office for the GCC Region affirmed Hong Kong's eagerness to strengthen trade relations with Qatar, noting that Hong Kong companies are keen to expand their presence in the Qatari market. He also reviewed the business environment in Hong Kong, highlighting the abundance of genuine opportunities for cooperation between the private sectors of both sides. (QNA)
